1. Turn ignition to the “RUN” position and immediately press and release the accelerator pedal 3 times within 5 seconds.
2. If the “CHANGE OIL SOON” light flashes, the system is reset.

About Chevrolet Silverado 2500 LD
In August of 1998, Chevrolet introduced the GMT800 Silverado and the Sierra 1500 and 2500 pickup trucks on the market as 1999 models. The “classic” light-duty GMT400 C/K trucks were continued in production for that first year alongside the new models, and the Heavy-Duty GMT400 pickups (alongside the GMT400 SUVs) were continued in production until the year 2000, after which the new GMT800 Silverado/Sierra HD (Heavy Duty) was introduced a year later. Production of the said “classic” light-duty GMT400 C/K trucks continued for that first year alongside the new models.
In January of 1993, the General Motors initiated the development of the GMT800 pickup truck by bringing together a number of teams. In June 1995, there is a new design was selected and finalized for production, which was 36 months earlier than the initially planned start date of June 1998. At the end of 1997, the green light was given for the development of the show, and in June of 1998, the pre-production and series production got underway.
General Motors kicked up the production of the GMT800 pickup truck in January of 1993 by assembling a number of different teams in order to begin the development process. In June 1995, a new design was chosen and finalized for production, which was 36 months earlier than the initially intended start date of June 1998. Originally, the beginning of production was scheduled for June 1998. The creation of the show was given the go-ahead in the end of 1997, and in June of 1998, pre-production and production of the series got under way.
A Chevrolet Silverado 2500 variation from the first generation that did not have HD capability was available from the 1999 model year through the 2004 model year (though a 2007 Silverado 1500HD Classic model was offered for a single model year).
Furthermore, it was positioned between the light-duty and heavy-duty pickup trucks, much like the Silverado 1500HD. It had a heavier-duty frame and had a greater towing capability than the light-duty pickup trucks, but it was not quite as capable as the heavy-duty pickup trucks. As a result, the light-duty Silverado 2500 pickup was a good option for people who required something that could work harder than a 1500 but provide more comfort than its heavy-duty brothers.
There are a number of distinctions and connections that can be made between the Silverado 2500 light-duty model, which was only produced for a limited time, the 1500 light-duty model, which is still in production, and the 2500 heavy-duty variants. For example, the light-duty version of the 2500 came only with a Vortec 6.0L V8 engine, had a semi-floating axle instead of the fully floating axle seen in heavy-duty models, and had a frame that was more robust than that of the 1500 but not quite as robust as that of the 2500HD.
